Hello everyone! Unfortunately we were not able to cover the event this year as we couldn’t make it to Malta, however the coverage of other sites has been fun to watch! Tonight is the big night, the show will start in THREE hours! Watch it live here!
Comment: who do you think will win? Our money is on Georgia!
Anahit Adamyan & Mary Vardanyan have released ‘Tarber’ (Different)! It was written by Nick Yegibyan and Avet Barsedghyan and is a modern R&B/pop song, designed to show off their powerful voices in a fun way. Says Avet:
“After several discussions with our team, we decided that it would be interesting to present the girls just the way they are. Each of them have their unique style, their personality, and that is what they sing about. Mary is elegant and stylish, while Anahit loves to experiment with new looks and trends. But in the end it is their passion for music that unites them.”
Will they get Armenia’s third top 3 in three years?
Christina Magrin’s much awaited song ‘Parachute’ has just been released! The lyrics were written by Matt Muxu (author of their 2013-2015 JESC songs) and the music by Florent Boshnjaku (composer of Albania ESC 2012 ‘Suus’), who requested to work with Christina after hearing her cover Suus on a Romanian talent show. Shira Frieman and TimoTi Sannikov will represent Israel in the 2016 Junior Eurovision Song Contest! They will form a duet known as “Shir & Tim” and will sing ‘Follow my Heart’ (that sounds like an upbeat ballad, perhaps?). The song was written by Noam Horev (who also wrote ESC 2010 Israel ‘Milim’). The composer was Dor Daniel. The music video should be released in the next two weeks.
Auditions to find Israel’s representative in the 2016 Junior Eurovision Song Contest were held in October. Participants were scouted from various youth groups, competitions and stage schools.
They already have an official Facebook page!
Georgia has released their entry and it’s unlike anything we’ve heard in JESC before. It’s sung entirely in Georgian and has strayed away from their usual pop songs. It’s a old-style ballad, reminiscent of old Disney movies or Eurovision in the 50s. The song shows of Mariam’s voice which is a smart move considering Junior Eurovision is now 100% jury voting, however it’s certainly a brave entry, no one can tell how this retro style will fare in a junior contest. You can listen to it here: Mariam Mamadashvili – Mzeo
Olivia Wieczorek has been chosen as the winner of the Polish national final! She was the frontrunner ahead of the contest, gaining the most internet support, so it’s no surprise her nation got behind her. She was chosen by 50/50 jury/televoting. The nine acts were:
WAMWAY – Zróbmy halas

Twelve year old Alexa Curtis, winner of The Voice Australia has released the song she will sing in Malta! It is called ‘We Are’ and is an American style pop song, similar to Bella Paige’s genre. The song was co-written by Ali Tamposi, best known for co-writing Kelly Clarkson’s Grammy-nominated song, “Stronger (What Doesn’t Kill You)”, award-winning writer Tania Doko, who has worked with artists including 2015 Eurovision Song Contest winner Måns Zelmerlöw, Tina Arena and Samantha Jade, and Boi 1da, a Canadian hip-hop producer who has worked with artists including Eminem, Jay Z, and Kendrick Lamar. Big names!
Alexa Curtis said of her entry: “I really love this song. It’s uplifting and sends a positive message to inspire people to believe that we are who we are, no matter what, and to believe in ourselves. It’s about saying that we don’t need money or nice things. It’s about friendship and feeling empowered. I feel relaxed and happy when I sing it and hope that it makes other people happy too.”
