Do you remember Viktoria Petrik who came 2nd in Junior Eurovision 2008 with her sailor song ‘Matrosy’? Lately she has been getting quite popular both inside Ukraine and abroad, her and sister Anastasiya (JESC 2012 winner) have even developed somewhat of an American fanbase.
This week, Viktoriya has been competing in New Wave 2014. New Wave is a contest made to encourage upcoming singers which lasts for one week. It is held in Jurmala, Latvia, and has been host to many popular singers such as Alla Pugacheva and Eurovision 2014 entrant Mariya Yaremchuk. Notable entrants this year are Viktoriya and Antonio Maggio who had arguably the best song in the Italian 2013 San Remo national final.
The first day of the competition has been completed and Viktoria placed a tied 2nd place with her performance of Queen of the Night. You can watch it here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CE6gfVo8rYI

has performed the song that brought him to Australia’s attention, “Hallelujah” live on Melbourne show “Stefan & Craig: Slightly Live”. Since he came 4th on Australia’s Got Talent, Bobi has released Hallelujah on itunes, and is working on his debut album. He recently traveled to Perth for a telethon to raise money for children and performed at Westfield shopping centres in the city while he was there. His participation in Got Talent meant he was able to attend the Kids Choice Awards this year too. Follow his twitter: http://twitter.com/bandonov
June 1st 2010
Macedonia’s 2008 representative Bobi (Bobby) Andonov is competing in Australia’s Got Talent currently. He’s made the super final to be held on June 15th. He is the favourite to win and has by far been generating the most press in the Australian media. He’s been featured on popular morning shows such as Sunrise; A Current Affair and Today Tonight (shows that consistently rate in the top 5 programs of the night), have featured him. He’s been interviewed on radio shows such as the Kyle and Jackie O show, and has even flown to Sydney to meet Usher (pictured above). The facebook group ‘Bobby Andonov To Win Australia’s Got Talent’ has more fans than the page of the show itself.
He’s also been the target of much critisism, as people claim his Junior Eurovision participation gives him an unfair advantage, though this is untrue as many contestants have past experience.
So far he has sung Hallelujah and Heartless (by Kayne West). His performances are below:
4th May 2010
The 2008 competitors are having a lot of success two years on. Charis Savva (Cyprus 2008) competed in “Get on Stage” and Eglė Jurgaitytė on “Choir Wars [Choru Karai]”.
Now, Bobby Andonov who represented Macedonia, is appearing in Australia’s Got Talent (hosted by Danni Minogue, Kyle Sandilands and Brian McFadden). Bobby sang Hallelujah, impressing all three judges and sailing through to the next round. Currently it’s still auditions in Australia but I will keep you all posted.
Victoria Petrik who represented Ukraine is also on Got Talent, the Ukrainian version! She is appearing with her sister Nastya. They are also through, and Victoria is looking a lot older now!
1st February 2010
Lithuanian show “Choir Wars” has been airing since January. Eglė Jurgaitytė was one of the participants, but was eliminated after week three, where she performed a song from the Sound of Music. It appears Egle was sacrificed to keep Irena Starošaitė. Egle may return in the second chance round in week 8. In other Egle news, she will be appearing in the Egypt Teens and Childrens Festival 2010 according to (http://eglesfc.puslapiai.lt/). Alina Eremia from JESC 2005 (Turai!) participated in this same contest twice, once winning the jury prize.
23rd January 2010
Eglė Jurgaitytė, who came 3rd for Lithuania in 2008 and now appears on various Lithuanian TV shows, is competing on “Choir Wars”. This is a Lithuanian show (actually called Chorų karai), where different areas represented by a singer compete against each other. After week 1, Egle is coming 5th. Sasha Son from Eurovision 2009 is also participating (coming 4th).Egle is the only child allowed on the show, which caused a bit of controversy. She was involved in selecting singers. The show is on TV3 weekly. You can watch it here: www.tv3.lt –>> WEB TV –>> TV3 laidos –>> Chorų karai –>> Chorų karai 2010-01-16 (pick a date)–>> Žiūrėti.
You can see Egle’s performance Beyonce’s “If I were a Boy” (in Lithuanian!) here:
Here is a promo for the show (uploaded by our new channel, JuniorEurovisionTV, so far run by Annika, Sara and myself):
And Bon Jovi’s “It’s my Life” by all participants in Lithuanian (Egle sings a bit):
13/11/2009 – The winners of JESC 2008, the wasps from Georgia – Bzikebi, have released two new songs! Ave Maria and Zabuzei, the latter being their original song. See them below!
29/10/2009 – With the JESC 2009 looming, I thought we’d talk a little about the fan favourite for 2008, Bobi Andonov. Where is he now? Still living in Melbourne, Australia, he now goes by the name Bobby, not Bobi. He is managed by Mamasusu Management and his booking agent is BecJam Productions. Since Eurovision, Bobby has been composing and recording songs for an upcoming EP, Jericho Blue. He has attracted the attention of Medici Music (Paul Morgan) and will be recording the EP in November. He has also released an exclusive youtube promo video of his own arrangement of the Tonic song ‘If You Could Only See’ . In early 2010, Bobby will be touring Europe, performing concerts in the Balkan countries and Europe, including the Netherlands (Amsterdam) in April. You can check out his website which is still under development here.
You can find Bobi on youtube under ‘Bobbyteevee’, which is a new project he is launching soon.
